Curtis L. Swezey, 50, was one of two men killed in a New Year’s Day 2015 shootout in Renton, Washington. The incident occurred about 3:30 a.m. at a party in the May Valley area after several people were asked to leave and at least one departing guest reportedly pulled a firearm. Swezey, who was associated with the residence, also armed himself and an exchange of gunfire outside the home left him and 18-year-old Jonatan Lizama Munoz dead; a third person was wounded and survived.
The King County Medical Examiner ruled Swezey’s death a homicide from multiple gunshot wounds. The King County Sheriff’s Office investigated the double homicide and detectives said they were considering self-defense while evaluating whether to seek charges. Family and friends described Swezey as protecting his family, and a memorial fund was set up to help with funeral costs.
Does anyone have additional details about the party or those present that night?
