Adam Garcia, 21, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of October 18, 2014, in a quiet Oak Harbor neighborhood. The shooting occurred about 3:15 a.m. at the intersection of Southwest Fairhaven Drive and Southwest Castilian Drive; Garcia sustained a gunshot wound to the face and died at the scene.

Garcia was remembered as a loyal son, a protective friend, and a father to a five-year-old daughter. He had attended Coupeville schools and played football there, and friends described him as a peacemaker, which made the violent death especially shocking to the community.

Witnesses at the scene identified 23-year-old Christopher Malaga as the shooter, and Malaga was taken into custody in Bellingham a few days later. The motive reported at the time appeared to stem from a personal conflict rather than a drug deal; Malaga had been living with Garcia’s family and was asked to leave hours before the shooting.

Did anyone in Oak Harbor know Adam or have information about what happened that night?
