On a summer day in August 2014, the bodies of three Pasco residents were discovered in a rural cornfield in Benton County, Washington. Twenty-two-year-old David Perez-Saucedo was found alongside 23-year-old Abigail Torres-Renteria, who was nearly nine months pregnant, and 19-year-old Victoria Torres. All three had been shot to death in what was described as an execution-style slaying; Perez-Saucedo sustained two gunshot wounds to the head at close range.
Investigators focused on 23-year-old co-worker Francisco J. Miranda-Resendiz of Umatilla, Oregon. The motive appeared to be retaliation for a break-in at Miranda-Resendiz’s apartment hours earlier. Court documents say Miranda-Resendiz confessed to his supervisors that he had shot Perez-Saucedo, providing details about the number of shots that matched the autopsy. He was arrested on August 10, 2014, and eventually charged with three counts of aggravated first-degree murder. A jury found him guilty in November 2015 and he was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.
Did anyone in Pasco or Umatilla have contact with any of the victims or Miranda-Resendiz around the days leading up to the killings?
