On September 9, 2018, Richard Miller, 51, and his daughter Jocelyn Miller, 19, were found dead in their Dale Street home in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Both sustained gunshot wounds; authorities treated the scene as a double homicide.

Investigators focused on a man described as a family friend, 37-year-old Karl Hess of Appleton. Hess had visited the Millers on September 7, 2018, reportedly to discuss a business proposition that angered him. At trial Hess acknowledged killing Richard Miller but claimed self-defense, saying he had brought a gun, stashed it in a bathroom, went outside, then returned to hear two shots and later shot Richard after finding the bodies.

The jury rejected Hess’s account and convicted him on two counts of first-degree intentional homicide, returning guilty verdicts and sentencing him to two life sentences. Does anyone have information about the Millers or their time on Dale Street that could shed light on what happened in early September 2018?
