Tarik Mahdie, an 18-year-old male, was fatally shot on November 10, 2011, in the Englewood neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side. He was approached in the street and shot by unknown assailants and was declared dead at the scene. The case was not solved at the time and investigators cited a lack of witness cooperation and ongoing gang tensions as complications.

Mahdie’s killing occurred during a year of intense violence in Chicago; 2011 saw 433 homicides citywide and a noticeable surge in gun-related incidents concentrated on the South Side. Those trends are part of the backdrop to this murder and to the difficulties police faced in solving such crimes.

If anyone knew Tarik, saw what happened that night, or has information that could help, please come forward to the authorities.
