On the night of October 13, 2011, 43 year old Toney Adewoye was stabbed in the neck outside Plush lounge at 1104 West Madison Street after a brief confrontation inside the West Loop bar. Witnesses say an unfamiliar man struck Adewoye across the face after a short conversation; patrons did not see a weapon while the altercation was inside. A physician who happened to be present rendered aid and the owner called 911. Adewoye was taken to Stroger Hospital and died from his injuries.

Police reported the confrontation stemmed from unwanted advances toward the woman Adewoye had introduced as his wife. Witnesses said the assailant fled immediately after the stabbing, getting into a waiting vehicle across the street and leaving the scene. A wrongful death suit later described the killing as sudden and targeted; appellate judges noted that no suspect has ever been identified or arrested.

If anyone was in or near Plush lounge that night and recalls the man who left in the waiting vehicle, please come forward with information.
