Gary Wayne Pitt, 66, disappeared from the Goodpaster River near Delta Junction, Alaska, after a boating accident in early September 2016. He and his son struck a log jam; both got onto the jam but Gary slipped into the river and was swept away from his son’s sight. The Alaska State Troopers were notified on September 2, 2016, and mounted an air and ground search of the river and banks, but were unable to locate him. The search was eventually suspended and the case remains open.
At the time he went missing Gary was wearing Mossy Oak chest waders, black Under Armour thermals, a two-piece Under Armour coat with Ridgeline camo pattern, Sitka Gear gloves and a brimmed camo hat. He was described as an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. The remote terrain, the log jam hazard and the river’s strong current complicated the search and recovery.
Does anyone who was on or near the Goodpaster River in early September 2016 have information that could help locate Gary or clarify what happened that day?
