On November 21, 2004, a hunting trip in Sawyer County, Wisconsin, ended in a mass shooting that killed six people, including 27-year-old surgical technician Jessica Marie Willers of Green Bay. The group encountered a trespasser, later identified as 36-year-old Chai Soua Vang of St. Paul, Minnesota, after a hunter found him in a deer stand on private property and asked him to leave. Following a verbal exchange, Vang reportedly walked away, then turned and opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle, wounding several people.

Hearing a call for help over the radio, Willers and another member of the party rode an all-terrain vehicle toward the scene and were ambushed and fatally shot. Two others were wounded. Vang was taken into custody the same day after emerging from the woods and encountering other hunters. He claimed self-defense, alleging he had been fired upon and subjected to racial slurs, but testimony at trial described victims who were unarmed and shot in the back.

In September 2005 a jury convicted Vang of six counts of first-degree intentional homicide and three counts of attempted homicide; in November 2005 he received six consecutive life terms plus seventy years. Does anyone have memories of Jessica or details about the hunting party that could shed light on the victims and that day?
