On the late afternoon of April 10, 2022, 29-year-old Shawn Wood was shot inside a residence at 350 S. Birch in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Emergency responders found Wood with multiple gunshot wounds and he was taken to Alliance Health in Ponca City, where he was pronounced dead.
Ponca City police identified two people of interest early in the investigation: 30-year-old Logan Michael Peters, known as Gunsmoke, and 35-year-old Martha Elisabet Yahola, known as Lisa. Both were located the next day and taken into custody; Peters was later cleared of involvement. A third person, 19-year-old Joseph Greyhawk Delano Howe, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction. Yahola was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and later entered a no-contest plea to conspiracy, receiving a 10-year suspended sentence.
At trial, a jury found Howe not guilty of the murder charge.
