Mabel Lopez was 8 years old when she disappeared from El Reno, Oklahoma, on February 17, 2016. An Amber Alert was issued because authorities believed she was in grave and immediate danger. At the time she went missing Mabel was described as a Hispanic female about 3 feet tall and 40 pounds.

Police linked her disappearance to a machete attack at a home that same night which left two men critically injured. Authorities named Mabel’s father, Arcenio De Jesus, as a suspect in the assault and issued a warrant for two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Investigators believed De Jesus fled with Mabel and her mother, Miria Lopez-Rodriguez, in a dark gray or black 2005 Ford Explorer with Oklahoma plates, possibly headed toward Mexico.

The El Reno Police Department coordinated state and federal efforts and the case is logged as NamUs MP75957. Years passed without a public resolution, and Mabel’s whereabouts remain unknown. If anyone knew Mabel, Miria Lopez-Rodriguez, or has information about a 2005 Ford Explorer matching this description, can you share what you remember?
