Michele Lynn Hahn, 47, was living on a makeshift raft moored in a drainage runoff near Liliuokalani Botanical Gardens in Honolulu in late summer 2015. She was described as a woman of Asian descent, 5 feet 1 inch, about 115 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. When last seen she wore a light-colored blouse and blue shorts.
On August 26, 2015, heavy rains produced a storm surge that turned the drainage channel into a fast, dangerous current. Michele and a male companion were swept by the surge while trying to escape. According to accounts, Michele released the man in an effort to save her dog and was then overcome by the water. Rescue teams searched the area but her body was never recovered; authorities have presumed she drowned.
Anyone who knew Michele, her living situation near the gardens, or who may have seen the drainage runoff during the August 26 storm is asked to share information that could shed light on what happened.
