Dustin Parker, 25, was fatally shot while working as a taxi driver in the early morning hours of January 1, 2020. Parker, a McAlester, Oklahoma resident and co-founder of Rover Taxi, was giving free rides after New Year’s Eve celebrations when his vehicle was struck by multiple bullets. Officers found him deceased in the taxi on West Delaware Avenue at about 6:30 a.m.

Parker was a husband and father of four, and a founding member of the McAlester chapter of Oklahomans for Equality. Friends and family remember him for his generous, kind nature and his bright smile. The McAlester Police Department said investigators were not ruling out possibilities but did not immediately suspect the shooting was a hate crime. A reward was offered, but no arrests have been announced and the case remains unsolved.

If anyone knew Dustin, saw his taxi that morning, or has information that could help identify who fired on the vehicle, please come forward.
