Quincy Lamont Brown was 37 when he was shot to death inside a home in the 200 block of South Jackson Street in Altus, Oklahoma, on Tuesday afternoon, January 23, 2018. Calls about shots fired came in just before 1:50 p.m.; officers found him with a gunshot wound to the chest and treated the scene as a homicide. He was a carpenter by trade, a Dallas Cowboys fan, and is survived by a daughter, Vivica, a son, Terrell Rosenberg, his mother Linda Brown and stepfather Burgess Bradford, plus a large extended family.

The investigation initially named 34-year-old Michael Leernest Terreal Moore as a suspect and warned he might be driving the victim’s white two-door 2006 Chevy Cobalt. Moore later contacted authorities, provided an alibi corroborated by surveillance footage, and was publicly cleared. A separate suspect, 35-year-old Gaylon A. Dorsey, was arrested after the stolen Cobalt was found abandoned and burned south of Cordell; Dorsey was booked on multiple felony charges including suspicion of first-degree murder. Funeral services were held at Kincannon Memorial Chapel with burial at Altus City Cemetery.
