A late-night shooting outside the Canterbury apartment complex in Phoenix killed 35-year-old Carmela Jackson on August 25, 2011. The attack occurred around 3:30 a.m. near 23rd and Campbell avenues after a verbal dispute between the victims and a group of suspects reportedly escalated to gunfire. Two other people were also killed and two more were wounded and hospitalized.
A neighbor described seeing a car arrive and two men get out before the shooting began. Authorities said the suspects included five Black males and one white female who fled the scene in multiple vehicles and have not been apprehended. Nathaniel Holmes, 26, was identified as one of the other deceased; the third victim’s name was being withheld pending family notification.
Did anyone in the Phoenix area see vehicles leaving the Canterbury complex that night or know anything about the people involved?
