Jeffrey Mark Garrison, 53, was shot and killed at his home south of Blair, Oklahoma, on the evening of April 12, 2016. A former patrolman and detective with the Altus Police Department, Garrison enjoyed woodworking and cared for horses; family disputes had been simmering between him and his father-in-law, 64-year-old Jerry Randel Drury, over custody issues involving Garrison’s wife Misty and over alleged threats about Drury’s unlicensed denture practice.

Evidence presented to the jury included the recent ammunition purchase and other details pointing toward premeditation. Seventeen months after the shooting, a jury convicted Drury of first-degree murder.
