Justin Ingle was 12 when a sleepover in a small community near McAlester, Oklahoma, ended in tragedy. In August 2014 the boys were engaged in what authorities later described as horseplay. A high-velocity pellet gun that a sheriff said was much more powerful than a standard BB gun was handled during the evening. Believing it to be unloaded, Justin’s friend pointed the gun at him and fired; a pellet struck Justin in the head.

Justin was taken to a hospital in Tulsa and died of his head injuries on August 16, 2014. Investigators characterized the shooting as a tragic accident. The friend who fired the shot was a minor and his name was not released; no public information about arrests or charges has been provided.

If anyone has information about that night or remembers details that could clarify what happened, please share what is known.
