A domestic homicide devastated a Magnolia, Mississippi family on the morning of December 13, 2022. At about 7:30 a.m. deputies found 25-year-old Emberly Patterson in the carport of a residence on Highway 48 East with multiple gunshot wounds; she died at the scene.

Police say the alleged shooter was Emberly’s brother, Emmanuel Patterson, who barricaded himself inside the home after the shooting. Deputies from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Mississippi Highway Patrol secured the perimeter, gained entry, and took Emmanuel Patterson into custody without further incident.

Emmanuel Patterson was already out on a $70,000 bond on an attempted murder charge from a separate 2021 incident in Magnolia at the time of Emberly’s death. The investigation into the December shooting remained active.

If anyone has information about Emberly, her life in Magnolia, or the events that morning, please share what is known.
