On the morning of July 14, 2022, deputies in Lee County, Mississippi, responded to a dark-colored sedan that had run off into a ditch on County Road 1438. The vehicle was found riddled with bullet holes and investigators discovered the body of 21-year-old Jeremiah Flakes, a Black man from the Tupelo area. He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene; his body was sent to the state crime lab for autopsy.
Deputies found several spent shell casings at a residence near where the car was located, a home belonging to Jeremiah Flakes’s estranged wife, Patricia Flakes. Warrants for first-degree murder were subsequently issued for Patricia Flakes, 42; Shannon D. Bramlett, 33; and Darick L. Moody, 19. Patricia Flakes and Shannon Bramlett were also charged with being felons in possession of a firearm. Bramlett and Moody were arrested in the Pensacola, Florida, area on August 1, 2022, and Patricia Flakes was captured by U.S. Marshals in Tennessee on August 12, 2022.
Anyone who knew Jeremiah, his movements on July 14, 2022, or who has information about the people involved is urged to come forward.
