In the early morning hours of Sunday, May 1, 2022, 22-year-old Quantavis T. Fernando of Corinth was found lying in the roadway on County Road 182 in the Hopewell community of Alcorn County, Mississippi, with a fatal gunshot wound. The Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office was notified at about 4:15 a.m.; deputies estimated the killing occurred between 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. and asked the public for any witnesses who might have seen or heard something during those hours.

Within a day investigators had identified a suspect. Courtland Alexander Bradley, 25, of New Albany was already in custody on unrelated charges when evidence gathered by detectives linked him to Fernando and the scene. Authorities located a 2013 black Volkswagen Jetta they believe was used during the homicide and found further evidence in the vehicle. Bradley was transferred to the Alcorn County Jail and charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; the investigation remained ongoing.

If anyone in the Hopewell or County Road 182 area that night saw or heard anything that could help, please come forward.
