Zaquawn Deshan Tavion Byest, 19, was shot and killed outside his Willow Bend Estates Apartments residence in Belzoni, Mississippi, on the night of March 14, 2022. According to investigators, he had stepped outside after receiving a phone call and was confronted in what law enforcement described as a calculated luring.

The killing left family and the small community reeling; relatives said he hadn’t yet had the chance to live out his life and called for justice. The Belzoni Police Department’s investigation identified two local men as persons of interest and led to arrests and charges connected to the homicide.

What details about the call, the motive for the luring, or other potential witnesses remain unclear? If anyone knew Zaquawn, was in the area that night, or has information about the events leading up to his death, please come forward.
