Kendarius Vaughn, 23 and from Jackson, died after a firearm discharged inside a vehicle following an argument at a Chick-fil-A drive-thru in Clinton, Mississippi. The incident occurred on a Friday evening in February 2022 when a dispute over a food order escalated between Vaughn, who was driving, and his brother, a backseat passenger. Vaughn produced a handgun and began waving it; he then turned the weapon toward his brother. The brother grabbed Vaughn’s arm as they struggled and the gun discharged, striking Vaughn.

A fellow passenger drove Vaughn to a nearby hospital, but he did not survive. The Clinton Police Department investigated, and the local district attorney’s office agreed the shooting was a tragic accident caused by carelessness with a weapon. The death was officially ruled accidental and no criminal charges were filed.

If anyone witnessed the incident at the drive-thru or has information about what happened that evening, please share what is known.
