A late-night gathering at Waxhaw Park, about six miles north of Rosedale in Bolivar County, ended in gunfire shortly after midnight on October 24, 2021. Twenty-year-old Jamarcus Black, a Black male from Shaw, Mississippi, was one of two people pronounced dead at the scene; the other fatality was 21-year-old Rayshawn Jackson of Cleveland. A third man, Ricktavious Jackson, 24, also of Cleveland, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his leg and was treated at Bolivar Medical Center.
Two days later, on October 26, 2021, 21-year-old Quincy Lewis of Cleveland was arrested in Oxford in a U.S. Marshals Service and Oxford Police Department operation and charged with one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault in connection with the shootings. A judge denied bond. An offender tracking log from September 2023 listed a Quincy Lewis held on charges of murder and possession of a firearm with case status noted as Grand Jury Action.
Does anyone have information about that night at Waxhaw Park or knew Jamarcus and the others involved?
