A dispute at a Jackson, Mississippi, restaurant turned deadly in late 2021. On October 24, 2021, 28-year-old Miesha Robinson was involved in an argument at the Lacazela Mexican Restaurant on Fortification Street with a woman named Zazmone Evans and Evans’s boyfriend, Carlos Vanrell. The disagreement continued outside and, as Robinson and another woman, Cierra Rhymes, sat in a vehicle, shots were fired into the car. Robinson was hit in the stomach and Rhymes was shot in the back.
Both were taken to St. Dominic Hospital; Rhymes survived, while Robinson was critically injured and died on November 4, 2021. Her death was recorded as Jackson’s 126th homicide that year. Law enforcement identified Carlos Vanrell as the suspected shooter, obtained a warrant, arrested him in Arkansas and extradited him to Mississippi; charges were upgraded to murder after Robinson’s death and he was denied bond at a court appearance.
If anyone witnessed the confrontation at the restaurant or the shooting, or has information about what happened that night, please share what is known.
