Late on Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday, October 24, 2021, gunfire at Waxhaw Park, about six miles north of Rosedale, Mississippi, left two young men dead and another wounded. Deputies who arrived shortly after midnight found a large, chaotic gathering; 21-year-old Rayshawn Jackson of Cleveland and 20-year-old Jamarcus Black of Shaw had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene. A third man, 24-year-old Ricktavious Jackson of Cleveland, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his left leg and was taken to Bolivar Medical Center.

Investigators developed a suspect and on October 26, 2021 Quincy Lewis, 21, of Cleveland was arrested in Oxford by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Oxford Police Department. He was charged with one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault and denied bond. The Bolivar County Sheriff’s Office continued to investigate the second homicide and asked the public for information.

If anyone who attended the gathering or who has information about what happened at Waxhaw Park that night can help clarify events, please come forward.
