Tyquan McCully was 18 when he was shot dead during a pickup basketball game on West College Street in Louisville, Mississippi, on the evening of October 13, 2021. Friends and family were at the game when gunfire erupted; McCully was found in the street with a gunshot wound to his head and was pronounced dead after responders arrived.
Those present said cars had been driving by the area repeatedly before the shooting. Family members reviewing a Facebook Live video recorded during the game reported seeing what appeared to be a red beam on McCully, and his cousin said the family believed he was specifically targeted. Police stated the suspect was not a participant in the game and opened a homicide investigation, collecting evidence and compiling a list of potential suspects. A cash reward was offered for information.
No public announcement of any arrest has been made and the case remains open. If anyone was present that night or has information about the vehicles or the person who approached the game, please share what is known with the Louisville Police Department.
