Charles Alexander Garza was six years old when he died on July 24, 2021, at North Mississippi Medical Center-Gilmore. Born December 5, 2014, in Fairhope, Alabama, he had just finished kindergarten at West Amory Elementary School and was known for an infectious personality. He loved Roblox, teased his sisters, and was fascinated by the fire service, often visiting the fire station with his father and playing on trucks and ambulances. Local firefighters treated him as one of their own and later served as pallbearers at his funeral on July 29, 2021.
On the morning of his death Charles was inside his home in Amory when he was accidentally shot and transported to the medical center, where he died. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and the Amory Police Department investigated and determined the death to be an accident; no arrests were made and no suspects were named. If anyone knew Charles or has information about that morning, please share what you remember.
