Ashley Henley, 40, a former Mississippi state representative, was found dead on June 13, 2021, outside a burned-out trailer in Water Valley, Mississippi. She had been at the property mowing the lawn when she was shot in the back of the head; her death was investigated as a homicide. The trailer was the same location where her sister-in-law, Kristina Michelle Jones, had been found dead on December 26, 2020.

The family pointed to the coroner’s finding that Kristina had no smoke in her lungs as consistent with their view that she was dead before the fire. Ashley’s killing intensified scrutiny of the two deaths at the same address and left her husband and son grieving another loss.
