On Saturday afternoon, January 16, 2021, Grenada, Mississippi recorded its first homicide of the year when 50-year-old Beverly Ann Black was fatally shot on the 200 block of Spain Drive. Officers from the Grenada Police Department and deputies from the Grenada County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene; Black later succumbed to her injuries. She was born November 19, 1970, in Charleston, Mississippi, and was a resident of Grenada who was known in her community.

The Grenada Police Department opened an intensive investigation and reported the arrest of three individuals in connection with the murder; the arrests were confirmed but the suspects’ identities were not released. The investigation remains active and officials are working to piece together what happened that afternoon.
