In the autumn of 2020 Louisville, Mississippi, 32-year-old Jarvis Watkins Eichelberger was found dead in woods off Baremore Street. Hunters and their dogs discovered a mound of pine straw with a pair of feet protruding on the afternoon of Thursday, November 19, 2020; the body was identified as Eichelberger, who had been last seen the evening of Wednesday, November 18, 2020.
Investigators noted suspicious markings and what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to the back of his head. The Louisville Police Department opened a homicide investigation under then-Chief Sean Holdiness, and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation assisted. An autopsy confirmed the death was a homicide. Authorities interviewed a person of interest early in the probe, but no arrests were announced.
A cash reward through Winston County Crime Stoppers was offered for information leading to an arrest. Eichelberger’s family held a funeral service on December 5, 2020, and he was buried at Louisville Memorial Cemetery. If anyone has information about what happened to Jarvis, please come forward.
