Queenyanna Davis was five years old when she was killed on the evening of April 15, 2020, in Jackson, Mississippi. She was at her aunt’s apartment in the Wood Village Apartments with her mother, Elizabeth Davis, and was sleeping on the living room floor when multiple shots were fired from outside. A bullet penetrated the apartment and struck her in the head.

Reports say Queenyanna was still breathing after the shooting, but there was a long delay before she was taken to hospital; she remained on the apartment floor for about 90 minutes despite an ambulance arriving. Three adults were also injured and a vehicle parked outside was damaged. The Jackson Police Department opened an investigation and a possible suspect was reportedly identified soon after the shooting, but no arrests have been announced and no suspects have been publicly named. The case remains unsolved.
