Jennifer Alvarado Reis, 40, was shot and killed at her home on Popp’s Ferry Road in Biloxi, Mississippi, in the early morning hours of March 1, 2020. Police found her body on the kitchen floor with a single gunshot wound to the chest after her husband, Michael Edward Reis, flagged down officers at Porter Avenue and Beach Boulevard and admitted, I just shot somebody.
Officers went to the couple’s home and discovered Jennifer deceased. During court proceedings Michael Reis said he had been experiencing hallucinations from prescription drugs and believed their daughters were dead in the backyard; video filmed by Jennifer before her death shows him frantically searching the yard. Michael Reis expressed remorse in court.
Michael Edward Reis was arrested and charged with murder. In court a judge described the killing as a senseless homicide linked to drug abuse; a victim impact statement from Jennifer’s son Blake Sprouse was read, describing the loss and opportunities taken from his mother, who had been hoping to become a grandmother.
Did anyone know Jennifer, her family, or have information about the events that night?
