On the early morning of February 22, 2020, 29-year-old Brandin Lane was found mortally wounded outside a residence at 240 Bazinsky Road in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Officers were alerted by a call at approximately 2:40 a.m.; Lane was discovered in the front yard with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken to Merit Health River Region but died of his injuries at the hospital.

Lane’s death was the first homicide recorded in Vicksburg for 2020. Detectives canvassed the neighborhood and sought leads, but the initial investigation produced no clear suspects.
