On the morning of July 30, 2019, Brandon Gales, 38, was fatally shot at the Walmart on Southcrest Parkway in Southaven, Mississippi. The attack, which began in the parking lot and continued inside the store, also killed coworker Anthony Brown, 40, and wounded a Southaven police officer whose bulletproof vest saved him. Gales had worked for the company 16 years and had recently been promoted to department manager; he was a father of three.

Police say the shooter was a disgruntled fellow employee, 39-year-old Martez Terrell Abram, who had been suspended the day before and returned to the store armed. Abram was shot and wounded by an officer, taken into custody, treated at a hospital, then extradited from Memphis to Mississippi and charged with two counts of murder.

Are there details about Brandon’s work or family life that might help explain who he was to colleagues and the community?
