Jaleisa Everett was 16 when she was killed in Jackson, Mississippi, on the night of May 29, 2019, when shots were fired into her home. A student at Provine High School, she was born May 26, 2003, to Latasha Sirs and James Everett and was the eldest of ten children. Friends and family called her Juicy; she was active in Rosemont M.B. Church and had accepted Christ at a young age.

Her father said the family’s grief and bewilderment included a suggestion that the shooting may have been tied to a dispute over a radio. Funeral services were handled by Jackson Memorial Funeral Service. Law enforcement opened an investigation into the homicide, but no arrests or suspect identifications have been reported online.
