Noel Christopher Benson, a 50-year-old man from Grand Bay, Alabama, was shot and killed on April 9, 2019, in Moss Point, Mississippi. The shooting occurred at a residence on Independence Road, the home of Dirk Lambert Jr., and Benson was reportedly shot around 6 p.m. Several hours later his body was found inside his own vehicle, which had been left in a wooded area not far from the scene.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department identified Dirk Lambert Jr. as the primary suspect and arrested him; he was charged with murder and held without bond while investigators continued to probe motive. Dirk Hilton Lambert Jr. later appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder; the case was set for trial in February 2020 and he remained in custody without bond pending that trial. Benson’s family remembers him as a generous, protective man who enjoyed fishing and hunting.
If anyone knew Noel Benson, his movements that day, or has information about the shooting, please share what can help investigators and the family.
