In March 2019 in Gulfport, Mississippi, 16-year-old West Harrison High School student Imani Rogers was struck in the back of the head when a handgun was recklessly discharged in a bedroom on Crestview Drive. She was placed on life support and, being an organ donor, died a few days later on March 11, 2019.

The investigation led to the arrest of 17-year-old Latavion Devon Shawn Bland; the original charge was aggravated assault and was later upgraded to manslaughter after Rogers died. Court records state the firearm discharged recklessly while in Bland’s possession. Authorities also arrested 20-year-old Deontedrique Sa’won Magee and two unnamed minors on charges of hindering prosecution after they reportedly lied to investigators about the shooting.

Did anyone in Gulfport or the West Harrison school community have information about what happened that night on Crestview Drive?
