A triple homicide in the small community of Artesia, Mississippi left three men dead on January 15, 2019. Demario Snell, 31, was shot and killed inside his mobile home on Mobile Drive; two other victims, Mauricio Nance, 22, of Columbus, and Tyshun Bernard Fields, 24, of Crawford, were also killed, with two found inside the house and one in the yard behind it. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots around 4 p.m.
Investigators focused on a guest at Snell’s home that afternoon. Clark Allen Jr., 20, of the Sessums area of Oktibbeha County, was taken into custody after multiple witnesses identified someone matching his description. Court records say Allen had tried to get Snell to give him marijuana on credit that day, and authorities suggested the killings might have been drug-related. At trial prosecutors presented evidence that the three victims were shot from a distance of three to four feet with no signs of a struggle; Allen testified he acted in self-defense, saying one of the men tried to take his gun. The jury found Clark Allen Jr. guilty of capital murder and he was sentenced to life in prison without parole; the families requested that the death penalty not be pursued.
Does anyone have information about relationships or conflicts among the victims that could clarify what led to the shooting?
