Mauricio Lemarcus Nance, 22, was one of three men fatally shot inside a mobile home on Mobile Drive in Artesia, Mississippi, on January 15, 2019. Authorities found Nance, Demario Snell, 31, and Tyshun Bernard Fields, 24, all with gunshot wounds; Nance had been shot in the arm and chest, while the others were shot in the back. A medical examiner testified all three had been shot from a distance of three to four feet and there were no signs of a struggle.

Investigators traced the killings to Clark Allen Jr. During his trial Allen said he acted in self-defense, claiming one victim tried to take his gun. Prosecutors presented evidence including the medical examiner’s findings and an account that Allen had earlier asked Snell to give him marijuana on credit. The jury found Allen guilty of capital murder; at the families’ request the prosecution did not seek death, and Allen was sentenced to life without parole.

Nance was a Columbus High School graduate, a former machinist and a member of Beulah Grove Full Gospel Baptist Church. He is survived by his daughter, Kyndall Lenoir, and several siblings. If anyone knew Mauricio or has information about that night, please share what is known.
