On Saturday, August 25, 2018, 33-year-old Jeremy Apperson of Philadelphia, Mississippi, was shot and killed at a CEFCO convenience store on Mississippi 16 West. Apperson, a transport driver for Prince Oil Company and lifelong Neshoba County resident, was at the gas station with his wife Samantha and their 10-year-old son when another man, Robert Leon Jackson, arrived and initiated a robbery. After Jackson demanded money from someone in the parking lot and fatally shot the store clerk Megan Staats, he approached the Appersons’ vehicle. While Apperson pumped gas, Jackson pointed a handgun at Samantha in the driver’s seat. Apperson drew a concealed weapon and Jackson fired multiple shots, fatally wounding him.
Jackson was apprehended following the shootings and charged in connection with the deaths of Apperson and Staats. Does anyone have information about Jeremy, his family, or what happened that night that could shed more light on this case?
