Dijonae White was 14 when she was shot and killed at home on Dryden Lane in Aberdeen, Mississippi after an argument over a video game controller. The shooting occurred on Saturday, March 17, 2018, and Dijonae was taken to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, where she died the next day, March 18, 2018.

The 9-year-old brother later confessed, saying he had retrieved a .25 caliber handgun after being denied the controller and shot his sister in the back of the head. The firearm belonged to the family’s mother’s live-in boyfriend. Deputies found the boy distraught at the scene and the investigation focused on how he accessed the gun.

Because the shooter was a minor, the matter was handled in juvenile court and records are sealed, so specific charges or outcomes are not public. Does anyone have information about the household circumstances or how the firearm was stored that day?
