Corey Maxie Jr., 22, was found fatally shot in the middle of a Vicksburg street after police responded to a disturbance call late on Sunday, November 12, 2017. Witnesses told officers the shooter fled the scene.

Police identified a person of interest and a few hours later arrested 31-year-old Rico DeMichael Hay at his residence. Hay was charged with murder and was scheduled to make an initial court appearance the Monday after the shooting. The case opened with a rapid arrest following the discovery of Maxie’s body.
