In September 2013 a man named Colby McCline was shot near an apartment complex in Cleveland, Mississippi, and later died at a local medical center. The Bolivar County Sheriff’s Department investigated the fatal shooting and arrested three men in connection with the case.

Laplose Thompson was one of those arrested and charged with murder. The other two men charged were Jamario Hodges and Jayvious Johnson. All three were held without bond after their arrests.
