Shomarick Deonte Payne, 24, was found dead in his Corinth, Mississippi, kitchen on April 17, 2017. He sustained a single gunshot wound to the back of his head; a friend discovered the front door ajar and alerted authorities. Investigators at the time believed robbery was the motive after several items were reported missing from the home.

Payne was a 2010 graduate of Corinth High School, attended Northeast Community College, and worked at Patterson Memorial Chapel. The investigation went cold for several years until new information from an individual with knowledge of the case was provided to Payne’s family and the Corinth Police Department, which reinvigorated the inquiry and led to arrests.

Two local men were later convicted in connection with Payne’s murder. Antonio Sauceda Reyes, 32, was found guilty of capital murder by an Alcorn County jury in March 2024 and received life without parole. Ricky Steven Dante Patterson, 29, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder on October 14, 2024, and was sentenced to life in prison. If anyone knew Shomarick or has information about what happened that night on Glover Drive, please come forward.
