Spenson Bennett Jr., 13, died in a firearm accident on December 29, 2016, in Noxubee County. He was visiting a friend’s home on Buggs Ferry Road in Macon, Mississippi, and had just returned from a hunting trip with a friend and an adult shortly after 6 p.m. A high-powered rifle being passed around reportedly discharged; a single shot struck Bennett in the upper abdomen and he died at the scene. Authorities described the event as a gun accident and Noxubee County Coroner R.L. Calhoun confirmed the circumstances. At the time of his death Spenson was a student at B.F. Liddell Middle School and a member of St. Mark’s Church of Holiness. Services were held at Noxubee High School and he was buried at Harrison Grove MB Church Cemetery.
