Frank Jenkins, 64, was shot during the late hours of November 21, 2016, at a home on Prince George Road in Hattiesburg. Police arrived about 10:10 p.m. and found Jenkins and another man with gunshot wounds; both were taken to Forrest General Hospital and Jenkins later died. An autopsy attributed his death to multiple gunshot wounds and the death was ruled a homicide.

Investigators made several arrests. David Bernard Jones, Virgil Stephen Lee Luckett, and Aaron Deshun Jones were charged with capital murder and aggravated assault in connection with the shooting, and each also faced armed robbery charges from an unrelated incident on West Seventh Street. Stacy Foster was arrested on charges of hindering prosecution and rendering criminal assistance. Separately, Carlos Akeem Sibley, initially charged with first-degree murder, pleaded guilty in September 2018 to second-degree murder and agreed to testify against co-defendants; other charges against him were placed in inactive file. Jenkins was listed as the city’s eighth homicide that year.
