On the evening of September 13, 2016, 20-year-old Trevues Martin was shot and killed while sitting in the driver’s seat of a car parked in his grandmother’s driveway on Monterray Drive in Gulfport, Mississippi. He was with his girlfriend of two days; the couple had been listening to music and smoking marijuana. A bullet struck Martin in the head and he was pronounced dead inside the vehicle. Martin was on house arrest and wearing an ankle monitor at the time.

Investigators identified 19-year-old Deandre Dashawn-Antonio Ball as a suspect, saying Ball believed Martin was romantically involved with a woman Ball considered his longtime girlfriend. Ball surrendered on October 9, 2016, and was charged with murder. Prosecutors relied on circumstantial evidence at trial, including a Facebook post Ball made two days before the killing that featured a photo of a Glock and a threatening caption, and testimony from Ball’s friend who said Ball was angry at Martin and that she and others fled after hearing shots. The murder weapon, a .40-caliber Glock, was never recovered.

A jury found Deandre Ball guilty of first-degree murder in May 2019 and sentenced him to life in prison. Does anyone with information about Trevues, the night of September 13, 2016, or the people involved still have details to share?
