Jeremy Fountain, 35, of Waveland, Mississippi, was found dead in a secluded wooded area of Hancock County’s Shoreline Park community on July 11, 2016. Family members located his remains after he had been missing for several days; advanced decomposition required dental records for identification. An autopsy determined he died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators linked Fountain’s killing to the July 6, 2016, fatal shooting of 35-year-old acquaintance Matthew Spooner in New Orleans; both men had sustained gunshot wounds to the head. Friends said Fountain was often seen with Spooner, who was reportedly trying to form a family-oriented offshoot of the Simon City Royals.
Law enforcement identified Drew Daniel Creep Bourgeois, 28, of Bay St. Louis as the primary suspect. Bourgeois was arrested in Metairie, Louisiana, on a first-degree murder warrant and found in a motel room with his girlfriend, methamphetamine, marijuana, and a pistol. After addressing separate Louisiana charges, he was extradited to Hancock County in July 2018 and later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder; he was sentenced to 40 years with 10 years suspended, to serve 30 years plus five years of post-release supervision.
If anyone knew Jeremy Fountain or has information about his movements in the days before July 11, 2016, please come forward.
