Anthony Haywood was 30 when he was shot to death while driving on St. Catherine Street in Natchez, Mississippi. On June 20, 2016, multiple gunshots struck his vehicle; the car eventually crashed near the Brumfield Apartments. First responders found Haywood suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his left side, torso, and face, and numerous evidence markers for spent casings were placed on the street.

The Natchez Police Department and the Adams County Sheriff’s Office opened the investigation and the Adams County Coroner, James Lee, confirmed the cause of death. Despite many people being in the area and security footage from nearby businesses being reviewed, the shooting itself was not captured and identified witnesses declined to cooperate. Months passed with no arrests and the case remains unsolved, leaving family and community members seeking answers.
