On the evening of March 4, 2016, 17-year-old Dacorian Kassette Dee Coleman, a Black male from Starkville, Mississippi, was found at the Camelot Apartments with a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police initially arrested 28-year-old Neal Anthony Anderson and charged him with murder, but that charge was dropped within days after investigators concluded Anderson shot Coleman while acting in self-defense during an armed robbery following a dice game.
Investigators identified two teens as participants in the robbery: 17-year-old Abdural Funtane Lee Jr. and 15-year-old Tomas Talib Bradford. Lee turned himself in and was released on bond; Bradford was taken into custody. Later legal actions included Bradford pleading guilty in April 2019 to armed robbery and a lesser count of manslaughter and receiving a total sentence of 30 years, and Lee pleading guilty to robbery in July 2018.
The case centers on a lethal confrontation that followed an attempted robbery after a dice game and left a community dealing with the loss of a young life. Does anyone have information about the events that night or knew Dacorian Coleman?
