Revonne Corey Jr., 20, was shot and killed on February 14, 2016, while seated in the front passenger seat of a car on Homochitto Street in Natchez, Mississippi. A single bullet passed through the seat and struck Corey after a friend in the backseat, 19-year-old Melvin Watts Jr., was reportedly handling a .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol. The driver, 17-year-old Kadeem Conner, took Corey to Merit Health Natchez; Corey was pronounced dead shortly after 11 p.m.
Natchez Police later found the firearm used in the shooting was stolen, and a search of the vehicle turned up other stolen guns and suspected marijuana. Authorities planned manslaughter and possession of a stolen firearm charges for Watts; Conner was charged as an adult with possession of a stolen firearm and possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle. The Adams County Coroner sent Corey’s body to the state crime lab for autopsy.
Corey was a 2014 graduate of Natchez High School and was attending Copiah-Lincoln Community College. He was an active member of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed football and basketball. Does anyone have information about the night on Homochitto Street or knew Revonne’s activities that evening?
